To brothers Brian and Ed Toft who founded menswear institution Hanon back in 1993, Suffolk called to mind the fabled story of the Hadleigh Gang. Operating in the 18th century the organised smugglers specialised in moving contraband across the country starting from the beach at Sizewell before moving inland to Hadleigh, using a network of tunnels and secret cellars to evade the authorities.

Clearly smugglers would've needed durable clothes with plenty of pockets.

A reworking of two Lavenham icons, the Dublin gilet and the Denham jacket, Hanon have added utility elements to form versatile, durable pieces.

The Dublin has been transformed into a fully reversible gilet with a robust cotton drill fabric on one side and our signature 100% recycled ‘Lavenster’ polyester on the other. Four patch pockets have been added to the garment which has also been bound with an organic cotton corduroy for even more durability. Quilted with a lightweight yet warm wadding, the fit has been relaxed slightly allowing the garment to be layered over a sweatshirt or under a jacket or coat.

To our signature cord collared, quilted jacket Hanon have added a full zip fastening, ribbed cuffs and a clean square quilt pattern. Meanwhile the vented back of the original Denham has been replaced with a stepped squared-off hem. As ever the jacket is bound in organic cotton corduroy and for this project we have added the same cord to the elbows for an even tougher jacket.

Born out of Brian and Ed’s passion for street-wear they started off in their parent’s front room selling clothes to their friends. From there they set up ‘Streetthreds’ in their hometown of Elgin in North East Scotland before relocating to Aberdeen where Hanon was born in 1993. Hanon quickly established itself as a destination for hard to find sneakers as well as an eclectic mix of European and US street-wear brands beckoning well regarded in the international sneaker community for top quality footwear, as well as unique collaborations and their own apparel brand.
