Continue ShoppingJohn Derian X Lavenham SS23
This spring we have come together with New York decoupage artist John Derian to create four embroidered Lavenham gilets. Founded in 1989 by John Derian, John Derian Company employs a small staff of artisans who assist with the production of John’s work ranging from ephemera to ceramics and furniture collaborations.
The full range of John’s work is available in his Manhattan shop - an East Village institution - and sits alongside an effortless curation of vintage and antique imports, linens, ceramics, tableware and original work by British artist Hugo Guiness.
Sold all over the world, John’s work has been featured in prestigious publications from Vogue to the Financial Times. Released in 2016 The John Derian Picture Book compiles 18th and 19th century images from his archive and quickly became a New York Times Best-seller.
Decoupage is the art of cutting and pasting paper. Drawn to it through his obsession with printed matter, Decoupage is the central aesthetic to the John Derian brand. Within our collaboration this art has been replicated through embroidery with four of John’s original designs stitched onto classic Lavenham 2” diamond quilted gilets.
Drawn together through shared practices of artisanal manufacture each piece reflects a desire to create new from old, right down to the utilisation of our vintage horse print lining fabric.
