Nicholas Daley: Rebel Riot AW26

It’s hard to believe that our last collaboration with Nicholas Daley was 5 years ago, back In 2021. We’re back on for AW26 as part of Daley’s wider ‘Rebel Riot’ concept with a unique but wearable quilted capsule designed for the coldest days.

Bad Brains

Daley’s starting inspiration for ‘Rebel Riot’ was seminal black punk band Bad Brains. Bad Brains formed in the late 1970s in Washington DC and went on to become hugely influential and completely genre defying. In defiance of hardcore punk’s nihilistic tendencies, Bad Brains’ rallying cry was Positive Mental Attitude, the belief that the music and the message held equal weight. Higher consciousness was foundational to the band in line with Rastafarian principles and the music they created was intended to awaken and electrify their audience. Refusing to fit neatly unto one musical box, their sound melded reggae, dub, jazz-fusion, rock and funk and was delivered with the bands’ captivating and intense stage style.

Rebel Riot

For his AW26 collection ‘rebel Riot’ Daley has channelled the energy and rebelliousness of Bad Brains into his designs. Throughout the collection seemingly disparate subcultures are linked together as is Daley’s speciality. From Skinhead to Ivy, Modernist to Punk. It is in this spirit that Nicholas Daley and Lavenham come together, perhaps not the most obvious pairing, but bound by our shared commitment to craftmanship, quality, heritage and community.

The Capsule

The capsule comprises of two styles – a jacket and a gilet. Silhouettes have been kept simple and easy to wear allowing the fabrics – a lustrous cotton cord and a Japanese brushed cotton check – to take centre stage. Both are quilted with a technical, partially recycled polyester wadding that locks in warmth whilst remaining lightweight. Each piece is quilted, cut and sewn in the Lavenham factory in Suffolk, England.
