A guide to looking after your Lavenham Classic.
Part of the journey towards living with the means of our planet is making things that last for a long time and that can easily be washed or repaired. The opposite of fast fashion.
As nice as a new jacket is, sometimes freshening up what you already have is just as satisfying. With that in mind here is our guide to washing your Lavenham Classic.
All our classics are machine washable on delicate 30 degree cycle. The more you wash it however the quicker the garment will degrade, so we do not recommend over machine washing. Washing machines also use a lot of water which is not good for the environment. There are several steps you can take to clean your jacket before machine washing, and we recommend trying these first.
1.Wipe with a damp cloth / Steam
Polyester is inherently stain resistant and therefore wipe clean. If you would like to kill bacteria, steaming the garment will kill viruses, odor causing bacteria and dust mites.
2.Turn the garment inside out and fold the ‘Lavenham way’. Put into a washing bag, ideally one which prevents microplastics from entering the water system. Although not essential to a successful wash, placing it in a wash bag will help the garment wash evenly and hold its shape.
3.Wash on a delicate 30 degree cycle. We recommend a formula that does not use oil derived surfactants. When the wash is finished, put the machine on spin to get it as dry as possible.
4.Hang to dry. Outside on a dry and blistery day is best, but inside is fine.
5.Wear and enjoy your refreshed garment.
